About Liana Z. Weber
About the Artist
Liana Z. Weber (b. 1989, Reno, Nevada, United States) is an Austrian/American Innsbruck-based visual artist working primarily in colored pencil on paper. She is best known for her meticulously rendered drawing style, which she describes as “pretty gritty realism,” a vibrant visual language that merges refined technique with subtle abrasion and tension.
Her work addresses themes of femininity, identity, and power through a process of synthesizing a wide range of visual and cultural influences.
Drawing from feminist literature, Catholic iconography, mythological archetypes, and contemporary media, Weber builds compositions that reflect both personal experience and broader societal narratives, punctuated by a keen, incisive wit.
Her ongoing series Sisterhood exemplifies this approach, presenting self-possessed female figures and symbolic arrangements that explore autonomy, transformation, and the construction of meaning through a female gaze.
Weber holds a B.A. in Art Studies with a dual focus in painting and digital media from the University of Nevada, Reno and is a member of IG Bildende Kunst (Austia) and Künstler*innen Vereinigung Tirol (Austria).
Weber has presented solo exhibitions in Austria and the United States, including Sisterhood at die Bäckerei (Innsbruck) and Homecoming at 731 (Reno), and has participated in international group exhibitions such as the Spring/Break Art Show (Los Angeles/New York), Superfine! Art Fair (New York), and the Reno Tahoe International Art Show.
Her work is held in private collections internationally, and she is the recipient of multiple awards, including Best in Show at the Reno Tahoe International Art Show (2023, 2024). Weber’s work has been featured in publications including American Art Collector, Create! Magazine, and Die Zeitlos Magazin.
In addition to her studio practice, she collaborates with artists & collectives to organize interdisciplinary exhibitions and ‘art happenings’ that foreground underrepresented voices and foster accessible, community-oriented engagement with contemporary art.
